MID9101 Dissertation Research 1

After completion of all course works, each student shall embark on a research project on which he/she typically works over a period of 5-6 months. The research project shall deal with a clearly defined topic from the domain of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering. The project will be carried out either in an academic environment (university, research institute, or equivalent) or in an irrigation-related industrial, field/business setting. The student will undertake the project under a supervision throughout the project period. The course is aimed at producing a research proposal for subsequent implementation during the course MID 9201 Dissertation Research 2.

Course objectives

• To develop and implement a research proposal for the dissertation.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, the students are able to:

• Prepare a dissertation proposal that is ready for implementation.
• Present their proposal to the departmental panel.
