MED4101: Clinical Methods in Medicine

This course introduces the students to clinical clerkship. Students will spend most of the time on the wards participating in patient care. Emphasis will be on mastering clinical skills particularly history taking, examining patients, investigation of patients, interpretation of laboratory results and essential clinical procedures. The course will also emphasize communicating the treatment management plan to patients including counseling. 
 
Course objectives 
By the end of this course, the students should be able to; 

• Develop skills in assessing patients 
• Describe the process of outpatient and in-patient care 
• Develop skills in carrying out essential clinical procedures 
• Develop skills of managing medical emergencies 
• Develop skills in palliative care
