MED3301: Material Science, Specifications and Procurement

This course covers properties of materials used in medical equipment, principles of procurement and importance of specifications in relation to medical equipment. It brings out the importance of environmental protection in relationship to disposal of used equipment.  
 
Course objectives 
By the end of this course, the students should be able to; 

• Explain the properties desired of materials used in manufacture of medical equipment 
• Discuss the relationship between cost, durability and specifications of medical equipment 
• Demonstrate basic skills in procurement, usage and maintenance of various clinical materials and equipment.
