MED2103: The Endocrine, Reproductive and Urinary systems
Course Unit Description
This course covers the embryological development, histology, gross anatomy and normal functioning of endocrine, reproductive and urinary organs. It covers the biochemistry of hormonal synthesis and urine formation. It also provides a foundation for the laboratory investigation of the endocrine disorders and radiological investigations of the pelvic region.
Course objectives
By the end of the course students should be able;
- Describe the structure and function of the endocrine system
- Describe the methods of detecting and estimation of hormones in body fluids are based and interpretation of findings
- Describe the physiology and biochemistry of body hormones
- Describe the embryology of endrocrine, reproductive and urinary systems
- Describe the normal radiological and laboratory findings in the reproductive and urinary system
- Describe the immunology of the reproductive system
