MED2101: Neuroscience
Course Unit Description
This course covers the embryological development, histology, gross anatomy and functioning of both the peripheral and central nervous system. Neurotransmitter synthesis and their receptors are also covered. It also serves to introduce students to techniques used to investigate neuronal functioning.
Course objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to;
- Describe the embryology, histology and gross anatomy of the brain and spinal cord
- Explain the physiological and biochemical basis of brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system function.
- Describe techniques used to investigate the nervous system
