Course Unit Description

This course covers cellular structure and function. It includes the histology, physiology and biochemistry of the cell and body tissues. It also introduces the concept of cells as drug targets and technique of tissue culture. 

Course Objectives 
By the end of the course, students should be able to; 

  • Describe cell structure and function. 
  • Identify microscopically the different types of cells and tissues.  
  • Describe the relationship between cells, tissues, organs and body systems iv. Explain the role of cells and tissues in normal body functions, disease and as drug targets 
  • Explain the importance of cells, tissues and organs in research. vi. Understand the different biomolecules in the body
