Course Unit Description

Information Technology Project Management is a comprehensive introduction to IT project management theory and application using the Knowledge Areas and Processes of the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) as a framework.

Course Objectives
To enable students, acquire knowledge of:

  • Project Management Foundation
  • Project Initiation and Planning
  • Project Execution, Control and Closure               

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will: 

  • Understand the PMI framework and its set of project management best practices.
  • Be fluent in IT project management terminology.
  • Be introduced to the analysis of IT Project Life Cycles and SDLC models.
  • Identify and analyze why IT projects fail and what skills are required to implement projects successfully.
  • Practice with the identification of project deliverables, requirements, and objectives.
  • Identify and analyze project stakeholders and project communications.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of how the various project management elements integrate into an effective mechanism for project planning and execution.
