Course Unit Description
Students taking this course should expect to learn the theoretical developments in the international financial management. They will gain skills in international investment and exchange risk management. Students will also learn how to measure and manage the company’s exposure to exchange rate and international interest rate risks.
Course Objectives
The course will enable students to:
- Understand the theoretical developments in international financial management and explain the operations of international monetary systems
- Learn the global trends in Foreign Direct Investments
- Analyse the operations of foreign exchange market and methods for determining exchange rates.
- Analyse different types of transaction exposure

By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Describe the theoretical developments of international finance and international governance systems
- Describe operations of Foreign Exchange markets and Foreign exchange exposure to risks.
- Appreciate the operations of International Monetary Fund and its contribution to developing economies
- Describe the processes of Foreign Direct investments (FDI) and effects of political risks on FDI
