Course Unit Description

This course gives a comprehensive view about the very begins of history in Uganda and East Africa in general. History was there before the coming of foreigners and the first east Africans made enduring history to their amazement of what proves to be racial or Euro-centric writings and interpretation.

Course Objectives
This course is meant to:

  • Equip the student with knowledge about ancient East Africa
  • Develop critical reasoning about historical writings about East Africa
  • Promote skills of research and writing in historical discipline
  • Enable students to implement the insights gained from the course
  • Appreciate and apply Afro centric views in historical teachings and scholarship
  • Describe the history of East Africa from the very beginnings to the present
  • Draw and describe the tree of humanity
