GEO2205 HYDROLOGY
Course Unit Title
GEO2205 HYDROLOGY
Course Unit Description
The course addresses seven major areas namely: Scope and importance of hydrology; The hydrological cycle and water resources development; Analysis of rainfall data; Characteristics of individual storms; Measures of transportation and evaporation processes; Soil water and its significance and hydrological processes and Models of sub-surface water flow measurement and drainage basin planning and measurement.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course students should be able to
- Explain the components and role of hydrological cycle in water resource distributions
- Analyse and measure H2O discharge in the drainage basis
- Explain the importance of drainage basin planning and management
- Analyse rainfall data. Assess the characteristics of individual storms and total rainfall records
- Measure transportation rate and vapour transpiration processes
- Analyze models of sub-surface water flow measurement
- Account for drainage basin planning and management
