Course Unit Description
The significance of entrepreneurship in the contemporary business environment cannot be under stated. Entrepreneurship is considered by most countries as the best approach to foster employment and innovation. We are in need of entrepreneurs who can create competitive ventures that will enhance economic growth, development and employment opportunities. The course focuses on fostering the student’s entrepreneurial potential in creating innovative business ventures. Emphasis will be placed on identifying and evaluating entrepreneurial opportunities especially in the fishery and water value chains.
Course objectives
The objectives of the course are to;
- Equip students with knowledge on concepts and theories in entrepreneurship,
- To equip students with managerial skills and techniques to identify and initiate business ideas
- Acquire the skills required in writing a business plan and resource mobilizations for business investments.
- Equip students with knowledge on business models and their application in assessing business viability.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course, the student should have capacity to:
- Start and operate a sustainable business project.
- Write competitive bankable business plans
- Apply business models to take advantage of the existing business opportunities.
