FWR2106 Fishing gears and methods

This course focuses on the scientific techniques used in fishing gear and fishing methods and their impacts on the fishery ecosystem. The use of fishing gears and methods, their efficiencies and limitations will be emphasized with practical examples from the field.

By the end of the course, Learners will be able to;

• Distinguish between legal and illegal fishing gears
• Gain practical skills in diverse fishing gears and methods in relation to fisheries management.
• Learn about the fishing gear maintenance and safety precautions
