Course Unit Description
This course introduces learners to legal framework, ethical issues, policy and regulations governing information work in institutions at local, national, regional and international levels.
Course objectives
The aim of this course is to:
- Enable learners examine Institutional laws and policies at international, national and regional levels in information management.
- Equip learners with knowledge on the laws protecting information material.
- Equip learners with skills and knowledge in ethical issues in information work.

By the end of the course learners should be able to;
- Identify ethical concerns for information management
- Identify sources of legislation.
- Describe the impact of legislation on information, records and archives management at all levels.
- Identify different laws that protect information materials.
