Course Unit Description
Aims
- To enable students understand the concepts, theory, principles and rationale of teaching athletics in lower primary class
- To expose students to the descriptions, designs and organization of selected activities and experiences suitable for use in teaching athletics to pupils in lower primary.
- To enable students acquire knowledge and skills and in developing general body management and control through balance, coordination and range of mobility of the body.
Course Objectives
By the end of this unit, students should be able to:
- Rationalize the concept and principles of teaching athletics in lower primary
- Describe, design and organize suitable activities in athletics for teaching classes 3 and 4.
- Acquire basic theoretical and practical knowledge of gymnastic activities performed by children in primary schools
- Develop competence in teaching gymnastics in primary schools.
