Course Unit Description

The purpose of this course is to introduce and sharpen students' skills in language teaching.  It is meant to expose students to English language studies and different genres of literature.  The course will cover definition of language, the four language skills; reading, speaking, listening and writing; and poetry, drama and the novel.  Students will be trained and given practical examination on language teaching methods.

Objectives
The objectives of this course are to:

  • Enable students taking English become specialist teachers of  English
  • Improve students’ personal level of English.
  • Revise and update students’ professional knowledge and skills in the teaching of English at Primary level.
  • Facilitate the sharing and enrichment of professional experiences among the students.
  • Prepare the students for further academic or professional work.
  • Students taking English will become specialist English teachers.  Therefore, they should come out as proficient teachers of both language and literature.
  • To revise and update students' professional knowledge and skills in the teaching of English at primary level.
  • Students taking English become specialist English teachers.
