Course Unit Description

Given that majority of the Ugandan farmers practice mixed farming, this course gives the student the basics in Key livestock production and management  practices.

Course Objectives

  • To explain the basics in piggery, poultry, small ruminants, fish farming and dairy production and management practices
  • To understand the basic livestock product quality management

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Explain the key basics in piggery, poultry, small ruminants, fish farming and dairy production and management practices
  • Produce and explain how high quality dairy, poultry and piggery products are got
  • Practice piggery, poultry or dairy farming alongside organic farming and crop production
