Course Unit Description

This course is designed to give students a hands-on experience in farm practice; by allowing them to carry out hands-on crop and animal management practices as well as workshop skills and mechanization on the farms during the semester.

Course objectives

  • To carry out routine crop and animal production activities on the farm.
  • To identify and solve production farm problems together with students.
  • To appreciate the importance of hands-on experiences in agricultural production
  • To adopt improved farming methods
  • To develop an interest in the agricultural profession.

Learning Outcomes 
At the end of this course the students should be able to:

  • Carryout routine agricultural production activities on the farm
  • Identify agricultural production problems on the farm and apply improved/modern methods of farming to solve the problems
  • Identify, describe and explain the different infrastructures, water resources, and construction materials on a farm
  • Appreciate the special aspect of housing for each animal species.
  • Develop and grow a career in the agricultural profession
