Course Unit Description
This course is designed as an introduction to show how finance is a fundamental building block to rational business decisions. The business world is very competitive and challenging there is therefore need for trained manpower in business finance to ensure effective allocation and management of scarce financial resources.
Course Objective
- The overall course objective is to equip students with the basic knowledge and skills that will enable them to optimize the allocation and use of financial resources at individual (personal) and organizational levels.
Expected Learning Outcome
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
- explain what is business finance and its scope
- evaluate alternative capital investment opportunities,
- explain the basic finance concepts and decisions,
- appraise capital budgeting projects using investment appraisal techniques,
- apply working capital management techniques for cash, inventory and debtors, select most appropriate source of finance give stated circumstances
