Course Unit Description

This course Introduces students to managerial roles and functions; covers planning, organizing, controlling, leading, staffing, and problem-solving in contemporary organizations; reviews foundations of management thought and managerial processes that lead to organizational effectiveness. 

Course Objectives
The objectives of the Course are:

  • To introduce students to the principles and practice of management. 
  • To expose the class to the functions of management 
  • Students to appreciate the role of management in organizations and the processes involved. 
  • Help students to relate the theory of management to the practice.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Apply Management theories of managing resources of the organisation.
  • Practice the best Leadership behaviour in directing people.
  • Make the distinctions between the various business/organisations in the public and private sector.
