Course Unit Description
The course covers aspects of farm structures and the general farm lay-out. In addition, it explores the area of farm mechanization as a means of improving productivity and the general performance of the farm.
Course Objectives
- To expose students to the social, economic &environmental considerations of setting up and developing farms
- To equip students with skills of establishing and developing farms
- To understand the relevance of different farm structures with respect to agricultural production systems
- To know the relevance and appreciate the various forms of Agricultural mechanization.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, learners should be able to:
- Explain the social, economic &environmental considerations of setting up and developing farms
- Outline the steps involved in the planning of the farm and small buildings.
- Select the relevant materials required for construction of farm structures.
- Describe the layout, space, sanitary and physiological requirements of the farm structures.
- Explain agricultural mechanization principles and applications.
- Practice safe work skills
