Course Unit Description
This course emphasizes the importance of Curriculum Evaluation and Innovation to improve on the teaching and learning as well as the quality of education.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course teacher trainees shall be able to;
- Explain the different concepts of curriculum evaluation
- Analyze the factors that influence curriculum evaluation
- Examine the existing assessment and evaluation tools in terms of their appropriateness
- Appreciate the role of curriculum evaluation in curriculum implementation, reform and innovation
- Design and administer suitable assessment tools to enhance the teaching and learning process.
- Distinguish between curriculum change and innovation.
- Design a curriculum intervention to solve a local problem
- Illustrate how different curriculum innovation strategies influence the curriculum innovation models.
- Conduct a SWOT analysis of different curriculum innovation models
Expected learning out comes
- Learners will have the knowledge and the competency to critically analyze different assessment and evaluation tools, set standard tests and examinations and prepare compressive marking guides.
- Learners will be able to critique any curriculum and apply research-based intervention to design innovations to improve on the quality of their services.
