Course Unit Description
This course unit is designed to give the students the principal elements of computer hardware fundamentals. It also covers the design considerations for computer and other systems with embedded digital technology.
Course Objectives
This course unit is meant to:
- Introduce to the student’s number systems,
- The principal elements of computer hardware fundamentals,
- Expose the students to the design principals of digital systems incorporating digital technology.
Expected Learning Outcome
On successful completion of this course unit, the students should be able:
- Explain how a computer works, information representation and storage.
- Explain the various digital devices in use.
- Describe various components of a digital computer and their functions.
- Design a simple computer system.
