Course Unit Description

This course provides an introduction to model based control system design. That is, how to design    feedback control systems using mathematical models of the system/process to be controlled. Mathematical modeling for electric circuits and electromechanical systems will be reviewed and following that more complex feedback systems will be studied.

Learning Outcomes
Upon the successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Learn various systems exhibiting control mechanisms and understand their operation.
  • Relate Mathematical representations in Feedback Control Systems
  • Understand the definition of a system and learn system-level thinking
  • model simple feedback control systems;
  • design controllers for feedback control systems;
  • use CAD packages to model and design control systems;
  • choose appropriate analysis and design techniques or control systems.
