Course Unit Description

All students shall be required to participate in this programme. The essence of community outreach is to encourage the transfer of knowledge, skills and technologies from the institution (academia) to the surrounding farming communities. As a result, the University causes a positive impact as it seeks to pursue its mandates.

Course Objectives

  • To enable the students work together with a community to solve its farming problems
  • Help dissemination of research findings from the university
  • Equip students with practical community extension skill and help them share the knowledge and skill they have acquired with farmers 
  • Provide students with farmer community experience before they graduate

Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student should be able to:

  • Be responsible officers after finishing the course and to practically develop a program plan, leadership and interact with communities.
  • Be a change agent in the communities. Work together with a community to solve its farming problems
  • Design and implement intervention strategy among farmer communities
