Course Unit Description
This course will provide the student with a broad understanding of biology of causative agents of diseases of livestock importance and those with public health significance.
Course objective
- To give students knowledge and skills to enable them identify parasites that affect livestock and diagnose livestock diseases caused by parasites and micro-organisms
Learning Out Comes
- Identification of common helminths, describe the life cycles of helminthes and control helminthes
- Explain the morphology, reproduction and nutrition of protozoa
- Identify and control ectoparasites
- Recognize the importance of microorganisms as causes of livestock diseases, control of diseases caused by microorganisms
- Collect, preserve gross specimen for examination and examine specimen under microscope
