Course Unit Description

This course is designed to introduce students to the techniques and methods of research. The module addresses a variety of research methodologies, and provides the opportunity to carry out interventionist or action research. Students will be required to produce a project report based on independent research of an area of professional business practice that interests them and will aid their professional development. The project report should use both primary and secondary sources of information, and should be an exploration of a current major issue. The report should build on knowledge, skills and understanding achieved in other modules. Students should seek tutor approval before commencing their project report.

Course Objectives

  • The module provides a good background for students to formalise research into a form similar to a thesis after having developed a range of investigative skills during their programmes of study.
