BLS1102 Introduction to Literature

This course introduces students to major genres of literature. It is aimed at arousing their interest in major forms of written literature. Major features and concepts in the appreciation of literature are explained. Students are exposed to a sample of major literary works.

Course objectives 

• Identifying the various concepts important in the appreciation of literature. 
• Acquaint students with a wider perception of these genres.
• Interpret a given work in the various genres.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students will be able to: 

• Discuss the genres and sub genres of literature – illustrating the various features of each.
• Explain the various concepts important in the appreciation of literature. 
• Acquire a wider perception of these genres.
