Course Unit Description

The topics covered in this course are: HTML editors; website management tools such as FrontPage and/or Dream weaver; basic Internet technologies such as DNS, email services, LDAP and the HTTP protocol. The practical part of this course introduces tools and techniques for specifying and prototyping interactive World Wide Web applications based on HTML. Web technologies: HTTP Protocol, Presentation abstractions, Web-markup and display languages.

Course Objectives
The objectives of the course are:

  • To introduce the basics of the Internet, how it originated, how it works, and how to develop and maintain Web sites
  • Students should be able to analyze, design, develop and manage web base systems in dynamic work place environment
  • To provide a basic understanding of Internet related technologies and introductory skills in Web applications
  • To use internet tools effectively and efficiently

Expected Learning Outcome
On completion of this course unit, the students will be able to:

  • Use web technology tools efficiently and effectively
  • Analyze, design, develop and manage web-based systems dynamically
  • Have essential skills for website management
