Course Unit Description
This section deals with the internal body adjustments that enable better performance of physical activities under conditions that deviate from the neutral, such conditions may be internal (within the body) or external (within the environment) The course deals with the function of the body during various acute and chronic exercise conditions. It emphasizes energy expenditure and transfer, how physical activity influences the body’s cardiovascular system and musculoskeletal system.
Course objectives
At the end of this course the learner will be able to:
- Explain effects of exercise (physical activity) on body systems
- Identify cellular responses to moderate and maximal exercise
- Suggest general strategies and teaching organizational measures to minimize occurrence of injuries
Learning Outcomes
- The knowledge of sports and exercise physiology acquired will help students Examine and scientifically disprove the various taboos, myths and misconceptions and compare them with the scientific facts about exercise and the human body and consequently use concepts to improve performance during exercise.
