Course Unit Title
BIO2203 PLANT PHYSIOLOGY
Course Unit Description
This course provides an introduction to basic principles of plant function, primarily covering physical process in plants, metabolism, secondary products, cell physiology, and introducing principles of growth and development. To understand this course better, the learner should have had at least general biology background knowledge or general botany. This course builds on physiological concepts usually presented in introductory biology, such as cell structure, photosynthesis, water transport in plants, genetics etc.
Course objectives
By the end of this course, learners should be able to:
- Explain processes that are important to the normal functioning of plants
- Describe the water relations in plants
- Discuss the various factors that influence plant growth
