Course Unit Description

This course focuses on parasites of socio-economic and ecological importance to humans especially in the tropics. It introduces learners to the general aspects of parasites’ developmental biology, epidemiology, diagnostic methods, control and preventive measures.

Course objectives
By the end of this course learners should be able to:

  • Describe the life cycles of selected parasites of economic and ecological importance to man
  • Outline the signs and symptoms of the diseases caused by these parasites
  • Discuss the various preventive and control measures for these parasites

  • Knowledgeable graduates on the parasites of socio-economic and ecological importance to humans, their life cycles, signs and symptoms, control and preventive measures.
