Course Unit Description
This course will enable students to acquire a philosophical knowledge of the concept of Education and how it impacts on the teaching and learning process. It will also help the learner to answer questions related to acquisition of knowledge, truth, reality and value from different societies.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this unit, students should be able to:
- Explain the concept of Education
- Identify the appropriate philosophy of education for teaching and learning of different levels of primary pupils
- Explain the adaptation of particular Philosophies in education
- Establish and demonstrate their own philosophy of Education
Expected learning outcomes
By the end of this course, the teacher trainee will be able to demonstrate;
- Application of different philosophies in solving education related challenges.
- Evaluate and construct knowledge basing on the different schools of thought
- Alignment of learning objectives or competencies with perceived values of education to the local and international contexts.
