SCS1205 Linear Algebra
Course Unit Title
SCS1205 Linear Algebra
Course Unit Description
This is a basic subject on matrix theory and linear algebra. Emphasis is given to topics that will be useful in other disciplines, including systems of equations, vector spaces, determinants, eigenvalues, similarity, and positive definite matrices
Course Objectives
- Understand the concept of permutations and combinations
- Undertake binomial expansion of algebraic expressions.
- Understand the algebraic operations of matrixes and determinants
Expected Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- System of linear equations in solving the problems of electrical engineering, computer science, etc.
- Use of matrix in graph theory, computer graphics and cryptography etc.
- Apply vectors in higher dimensional space in experimental data, storage and warehousing, electrical circuits, graphical images and economics.
- Apply linear transformation in computer graphics, cryptography.
- Use the techniques and theory of linear algebra to model various real-world problems. (Possible applications include: curve fitting, computer graphics, networks, discrete dynamical systems, systems of differential equations, and least squares solutions.
