Course Unit Description

This course presents basic physiology of farm animal species as well as the comparative physiological performance under different farm situations.  This is an important exposure in order for the student to appreciate other more sophisticated aspects of animal body function.  

Course objectives

  • To impart an understanding of basic physiological functions in farm animal species
  • To explain the role of various physiological functions under given farm situations.

Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student should be able to:

  • Know the basic physiology of farm animal species
  • Appreciate functional physiology of animals
  • Describe systemic physiology across various species  of farm animals
  • Appreciate the relationship between Anatomy and physiology
