APM 2201 Farm Animal Health & Diseases
Course Unit Description
This course will provide the student with a broad understanding of diseases of livestock (infectious and non-infectious diseases). The aetiology, transmission mechanisms, clinical signs and economic burdens of important livestock diseases, as well as the methods of diagnosis, treatment, control and prevention of such diseases will be covered.
Course Objectives
The student should be able to diagnose, treat and control common diseases in livestock.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, learners should be able to:
- Mention the major livestock diseases of primary concern to the development of the livestock industry in Uganda and Africa at large.
- Describe the etiology, modes of transmission and clinical signs/symptoms of such livestock diseases
- Diagnose, treat livestock diseases
- Describe appropriate control and prevention methods for important livestock diseases.
