Course Unit Description

In this course teacher trainees will learn how to develop and use teaching and learning resources in physics. The course emphasizes the use of hands-on approach and project in teaching and learning physics. It includes laboratory teaching, use of environment, peer teaching and preparation of teaching aids from local materials. The course also prepares prospective teachers in assessment and evaluation physics teaching and learning.

 

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Construct different teaching and learning aids to teach secondary school physics.
  • Describe a layout of appropriate physics laboratory
  • Effectively use and manage the physics laboratory
  • Demonstrate various safety measures involved in the management of a physics laboratory.
  • Utilize the environment in effective teaching of physics
  • Effectively prepare, administer and mark physics examinations including the practical.
